Learning Objectives —

Sample Responsibilities —

  • Draft official messaging and communications (including newsletters)
  • Work with Operations Assistant to setup automated communications where possible
  • Manage social media accounts including Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook
  • Manage and implement website updates via Squarespace
  • Create original content and look for new ways to engage target audience
  • Track and report website, email, and social media performance and analytics
  • Develop marketing collateral, email campaigns, and social media content

It is a huge plus if you:

  • Have experience with Google Analytics.
  • Understand the basics of social media analytics and platform capabilities.
    Have experience with tools such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, or Final Cut Pro.

  • Research the latest in global conferences and events, youth development and employment statistics and studies, and innovation best practices
  • Find interesting content on youth employment and entrepreneurship from a variety of sources
  • Work with the Marketing & Communications Assistant to catalog and share content
  • Support team with detailed research on upcoming and potential projects
  • Present research in an organized and compelling manner by crafting organized spreadsheets, reports, data visualizations, and infographics

PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITY – CTO

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: SFAN’s CTO provides the vision and leadership for designing, developing and implementing IT initiatives that create customer and/or business value. Responsibilities include influencing and directing the Company’s IT infrastructure and applications evolution to ensure key business strategies and processes are driven by systems that enable change, growth and flexibility. The Director must ensure our IT infrastructure is reliable, secure, cost efficient, and strategically sound, reflecting business needs and best practice in creating value for the company and our customers.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. LEADERSHIP:

  • Lead, develop and implement IT initiatives that enable SFAN to compete more vigorously and more profitably in a constantly changing and demanding education marketplace.
  • Translates the company vision into IT systems and procedures, articulating this critical link to the company stakeholders including the Executive Team, future IT staff and employees.
  • Manage, motivate, and develop future staff within the IT group. Ensure the organizational structure is appropriate for supporting SFAN’s current and future business needs.
  • Recruit appropriate talent for IT unit when needed.
  • Be viewed as a critical voice among the Operating Team, driving cross-functional collaboration through the IT unit.
  • Participate actively with the Operating Team to ensure our systems environment addresses the needs of the business.

2. PLANNING:

  • Lead and coordinate development of our infrastructure to ensure key business strategies and processes are supported by systems that enable growth and flexibility.
  • Develop plans and budgets in light of internal work needs and operating units’ approved projects.
  • Oversee analysis and evaluation of staffing requirements to fulfill business requirements including directing the evaluation of make vs. buy decisions as they relate to outsourcing vs. in-house provisioning and identifying and developing strategic partnerships with key IT suppliers, licenses and contracts, vendors and consultant organizations.
  • Translate business needs into system solutions making maximum use of available tools while ensuring longer term supportability of the architecture.

3. EFFICIENCY & EFFECTIVENESS:

  • Ensure availability of necessary application systems to support business and operation needs.
  • Develop IT policies and procedures on a basis for ensuring consistency in standards and leveraging of common systems.
  • Establish and measure IT performance relative to cost, value creation and customer satisfaction in the key areas of operating systems, telecommunications, network management and desktop support.
  • Lead and coordinate selection, installation, operation, support, and maintenance of our information technology infrastructure (i.e. operating systems, networks, hardware, and peripherals).
  • Optimize our return on our IT investment by acquiring cost-justified IT components, as measured by performance, support availability, price, upgradeability, and future industry trends.
  • Protect the company and its operations against IT risks, including unauthorized access to information, data integrity problems, loss of processing capability, and poor service levels.
  • Set office automation standards within the company and oversee acquisition, deployment, and support of office support systems.
  • Ensure the IT infrastructure is successfully exploited to achieve continuous improvement and competitive advantage by identifying needs and, developing and providing appropriate training and support for all users.
  • Cooperate with operating units in conceptualizing, developing, and launching technology based products and services.

Technical Skills / Technical Environment:
Experience with multiple software development methodologies
Understanding of and experience with the full Software Development Life Cycle.
Knowledge of source control management and automated testing concepts.
Experience in a SQL / .NET environment a plus.

You have experience with design software and wireframe tools. If you also have a portfolio of professional design projects that includes work with web/mobile applications, we’d like to meet you.

Ultimately, you’ll create both functional and appealing features that address our clients’ needs and help us grow our customer base.

Sample Responsibilities

  • Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product manager and engineers
  • Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps
  • Design graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs and widgets
  • Build page navigation buttons and search fields
  • Develop UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and look like
    Create original graphic designs (e.g. images, sketches and tables)
  • Prepare and present rough drafts to internal teams and key stakeholders
  • Identify and troubleshoot UX problems (e.g. responsiveness)
  • Conduct layout adjustments based on user feedback
  • Adhere to style standards on fonts, colors and images

Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a UI/UX Designer or similar role
  • Portfolio of design projects
  • Knowledge of wireframe tools (e.g. Wireframe.cc and InVision)
  • Up-to-date knowledge of design software
  • Team spirit; strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders
  • Good time-management skills
  • BSc in Design, Computer Science or relevant field

  • Establish relationships with local partners, venues, and vendors

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of live events
  • Maintain and manage vendor and client databases
  • Develop and implement evaluations to measure program successes and opportunities
  • Assist with the execution of event-related social and digital media outreach
  • Manage documentation from team meetings and rehearsals
  • Work closely with the team to ensure we handle all elements of production-related workflow in a professional manner
  • Support event coordination and assist in the development all aspects of event logistics, including event schedules, F&B, transportation, entertainment, etc.
